Former Doctor Who star David Tennant has claimed to speak on “behalf of the Scottish nation” by declaring that the entire nation hates President Donald Trump.

Appearing on Channel 4’s The Last Leg, the 47-year-old actor explained that despite Trump’s affection for Scotland, given that his mother’s birthplace and a country where he owns sizeable property and golf courses, Scottish people do not like him in return.

“When he was over here [on his visit to Britain] he was saying I’m going to my golf course in Scotland because people in London are protesting and people in Scotland like me,” Tennant said. “Let me say, on behalf of the Scottish nation, we fucking don’t.”

It is not the first time Jessica Jones star has voiced criticism of Trump. When Trump last visited Scotland in June 2016 during his presidential campaign, Tennant filmed himself reading out aggressive anti-Trump tweets from Scottish people.

Tennant remains an ardent supporter of the hard-left British Labour Party and has repeatedly appeared in general election broadcasts urging people to vote for former Prime Minister Gordon Brown and former Labour leader Ed Miliband. The party is currently experiencing a severe internal crisis over multiple claims of deep-rooted anti-semitism led by its quasi-communist leader Jeremy Corbyn.
